Please note that not all the artwork consigned to the Davistown Museum for fundraising purposes is located at the museum (DTM); several items are located at our Hulls Cove office. Numerous other paintings, prints and books have also been consigned to help raise money for the museum and are listed in Catalog 3 of the museum publication series. Many other artworks located in Hulls Cove are for sale but have yet to be listed in the fundraising campaign. Oil on canvas. Signed “Degas” on the front lower left hand corner, also signed “Degas” on the back of the frame with the inscription “Mlle. (?) Carpentier.” We believe that this portrait was painted in Paris at approximately the same time as “The Family Bellelli” (1858 - 1867), just prior to his embracing the Impressionistic style.
